Weekend at the Ranch

Lowen got to experience her first adventure at the Ranch this past weekend for Kristen Cole's birthday. We went out there Friday night with the Coles, Harris', Beforts, and Millers. Such a great group. Although I was insanely tired Friday night and went to bed fairly early after a fun and yummy dinner, Saturday was SO relaxing and the weather could not have been more perfect!!! The day pretty much consisted of sitting on rocking chairs all day long and chatting with friends. It was perfection. John David was Rockstar Dad...let me sleep in, take an afternoon nap, and entertained this sweet girl all day with trips to the river to look at the fish and lots of trips on the 4 wheeler...

 "Rock On!"
Saturday evening, we decided to head home, but we first stopped at Granny's Kitchen in Huntsville for some good ole home cooking. It was amazing. Worth the trip from Fayetteville JUST to eat there! Especially for the breakfast, although the dinner was awesome too. Love it!!
Lyla and I sharing some Curly Q Fries...she thought it was really fun that they were so long. :)
Once again, always a great time at the Ranch and the perfect little get-away.

Rainy Days

Well, so far, we are surviving (barely) without Cookie. :) Wednesday was our first day on our own. With all the rain, John David just had to take advantage and go kayaking. So, I decided to be brave and load up both kids in the rain to go to Emily's for a playdate. I'm so glad I did! Emily made yummy soup for everyone, and it was so nice to get out in the real world and see friends. And I know Lyla had a blast having some new toys and friends to entertain her! Plus, Lowen was passed around so it was a nice little break for me and I actually got to visit with some friends! Imagine that! Here's a pic of all the babies that were there...Surprisingly enough, with all these kids, it was very calm and laid back! Still not sure how that happened.

To get ready in the mornings, I just bring both girls in the bathroom with me, and we have girl parties. Lyla helps Lowen blow-dry and brush her hair...

And, like I mentioned, it's been pouring down rain all week but Lyla still begs to go outside and play. So, Sawyer came over to run around with Lyla and get some energy out. These two are a MESS together. :) At one point, we looked out there and Lyla had completely stripped down to nothing and was squatting in the grass to pee. Lovely.

The Mortons stopped by the other night as well, while they were out on an evening stroll. The boys watched youtube videos while us girls chatted...
Yesterday, I finally remembered to do tummy time with Lowen for the first time. She loved it!! Hung out there for about 15 minutes, happy as can be. Lyla wanted to join her...

"oh, hey there Mom!"
trying to lift her little head :)
Loving these girls! They are keeping me busy (and tired) but my heart could not be more full!!
And this sweet little dimple makes the rough nights all worth it. :)
Happy Friday!!!!

Our last week with Cookie!

My mom left today, so we are officially on our own! I can't even begin to describe how awesome it's been having her here for almost 3 weeks!!!! John David and I both cried when she left! I think John David is well aware that he's about to have zero clean clothes, a sink full of dishes, and fast food for dinner. :) My Dad came up last night and treated us to SUCH a fun, delicious meal at Pesto Cafe while precious Lacey Harris stayed with the girls. It was so incredibly nice to have a night out with just John David and my parents! Here are LOTS of pictures of this past week. As you can see, I can't put my camera down. These sweet little faces just melt my heart!!

(John David was holding up this picture of Lyla as a newborn to compare with Lowen. Definitely similar!!)

(a rare moment when Cookie convinced Lyla to do a ponytail...LOVE this little profile! too bad it only lasted a few minutes!)
Cookie "riding the horsey" with her girls
ha! Poor Lowen...such a trooper already

Constantly doing her "gymnastics tricks" :)

Lots of rain all day today, but Lyla is so used to playing outside that she convinced us to let her go jump in the puddles. She wanted to wear her jacket and boots, but NO pants of course! She would have stayed out there all day long if we'd let her!

Love these sweet profiles, too...and Lyla's hand on Daddy's arm.

And while Lowen peacefully sleeps all day long, our little free-spirit hippie child keeps us entertained...
So, here's to hoping we survive life with 2 kids without the help of Super Cookie!!! All prayers appreciated please! :)

Playing Mommy

Lyla's always loved her baby dolls, but she is even more into them these days now that she sees me taking care of a baby. I love seeing her imitate what I do...
She's figured out how to take pictures with my phone, and let me tell you, she gets pretty artsy with her photography! :) She keeps going up to the real baby Lowen and her baby dolls and saying "Say cheese! Good job!"

Taking baby Lowen for a ride on Rody

helping mommy give her real baby doll a bath
She and Bitty Baby have been on lots of trips to the Grocery store and Bible Study in her little car
She's also real into burping her baby dolls...she'll pat them on the back and then say "Big Burp! Good Job!"

buckling her baby doll in the bouncy seat. safety first!
taking a little nap with baby Stella

 And time for a bottle!
 All swaddled up :)
But there's nothing better than the REAL baby doll in the house. So so thankful that Lyla is loving being a big sister!! Such an answer to prayer!!!
