Memorial Day Weekend

I feel like Memorial Day officially starts summer! And we had SUCH a fun-filled weekend!! Jan Jan came in town Friday morning, just in time to watch Lyla do gymnastics. Such a treat!
After gymnastics, we enjoyed lunch on the patio at Hammantrees, and then John David and I headed to the Mulberry river while Jana stayed with the girls.

First stop was a gorgeous hike with this amazing view...
(pictures never do it justice)
Our good friend and neighbor, Jeremy, built this little cabin in the woods with his own two hands. I knew he had been working on it, and we've been wanting to go see it so we decided to spend the night there with Jeremy and our friends, Allen and Meg. I had NO idea it would be so incredible!!!! I was truly blown away that he had built this, and it felt like we were in our own little treehouse. It was so homey and cozy, and we will definitely be back! It was the perfect little getaway! Again, I feel like pictures don't do it justice, but here's a sneak peek:

Friday night, the five of us sat by the fire roasting hot dogs and smores and laughing and talking. This is by far my favorite thing about camping! And then we all slept so comfortably in the cabin! On Saturday morning, we got up and headed to Oark Cafe for breakfast, the oldest consistently open cafe in Arkansas. LOVE places like this. And our breakfast was delicious!
After breakfast, we hit the river! The weather was perfect, water levels were perfect, and there were tons of fun and exciting rapids!

Jeremy took his 7 year old nephew kayaking. It was so incredibly cute, I actually teared up at one point. (I need a son!) :)

I was so thankful for a getaway with my man!! It was so good for our souls, and we could NOT have had more fun!! But, as always, I was missing my girls and ready to get home and see them after our float trip!! On Sunday, we went to church, all had naps that afternoon, and then went swimming at our neighbors, Ali and Randall. As we were getting ready to leave, we heard the ice cream truck driving by our house! So, we rushed out and Lyla got her first ice cream truck experience. I love that she picked one that looked just like her:

On Monday (Memorial Day), we went swimming with the Gumps at Abra's moms house. We grilled chicken and just ate, swam, and visited all day long.  We had such a blast!
